RECYCLED GEM

Project had a luxurious and elegant appearance waiting to arise. The bones and the structure were just so eager to come back to life. Curious experiment started to reform, recycled usage was thought out all way through. Curiousities and found objects, furniture combinations and playful experiments with veneer, custom made furniture brought this not so obviously Recycled Gem into it’s glory.

REAL OFFICE

A real estate office moved to a historical ‘Finland’ Suomi-building. The challenge presented in this space was the long hallways ending in a 4-way intersection.  Artist Vincent Bakkum turned one of the hallways into a special garden entry. An antique park bench then helps you to have that refreshing park moment in your busy workday. To unify the intersection I designed a custom rug. I also got to design the curved sofas and wardrobes as well. Mydesigns and re-objects filled the other rooms, such as formal conference table, cabinet and planter boxes.

DESIGN 3 OFFICE

Three female entrepreneurs joined forces creating a graphics office, design-3. Their space was in need of refreshing and simplifying. Light globes and a mosaic mirror make the light play endlessly together with natural light. I wanted to have large-scale artwork in the facing wall. My three wonderful graphic design clients then worked their own magic and painted this playful art wall. Their old beech worktables were painted to emphasize their new bold, colorful brand & image.

TATTOO ART

This tattoo studio wanted a new look. The long narrow space, with a kitchen in the back needed some structure and privacy for the clients. Work areas were sectioned off and a lounge/waiting area created. A mirror puzzle was built to play with the space and light. Redesigned metal lockers were doubling as art pieces and my hidden secretary piece was fixed on the wall for the tattoo artists to enjoy a little sparkle.

BEVERLY HILLS 90210

1920’s house was fully remodeled and filled with custom made furniture. Wonderful clients, who love entertaining, helped make this project a great success. The house had many architecturally beautiful elements such as wood moldings, large rooms and a beautiful wooden staircase. I had so much fun with this project, especially with the children’s rooms. I was able to play them up by adding some details such as hand painted animals, a brass mouse door stopper, guardian bedside tables, custom made reading sofas, secret message light fixtures, not forgetting the playrooms’ happy polka dot bathroom.

INSPIRED BY ART DECO

Art Deco is such a wonderful, inspiring style period. I had an opportunity to work on this project with talented design-built and artist Willie Thoms. We collaborated with furniture designs such as the bedroom furniture, coffee table, side tables, TV-stand with integrated low benches, bright red desk and many more. All the artwork is by Willie. The guardian angel on the kitchen window protects and creates love for the house.

CURIOUS EXPERIMENT

All kinds of experimental designs were created in this curious design lab. There are vibrant color combinations like sprout green and cupcake pink. Soft details and beautiful pieces acquired through life’s journey fill spaces with organic shapes, sticks and stones, gnarls and self-made glass sculptures.

NIGHTLIFE

It was very exciting to design a nightclub. Sketching, drawing, playing, testing and more playing around with scale, materials and shapes helped all the details found their place. You need to take a second look to find all the unexpected details and forms; tucked and pleated upholstery, hand painted flowers, silk drapes, shimmering bar tops, custom formed double barstool, custom brass chandeliers. It was important to me to have eye catching centerpiece, and so I came up with elevated champagne bottles, a custom made display with brass bases. In the end – I think we succeeded in our goal to create Japanese influenced, smoky, deep burgundy and sexy nightlife feeling.

SMOKEY LAB

Experimenting with black paint, wanting to create an Art Nouveau inspired smoky feel throughout the space. I imagined the smoke being covered by melting liquid gel dripping down from the ceiling.

EASY URBAN TREEHOUSE

We have so much ‘empty’ space above buildings, behind the billboards. Here is a concept for living behind billboard signs. The billboard constitutes the façade and the living and working spaces are hidden behind.

TRIANGULAR BATHROOM

This triangular bath went through a complete remodel. Awkward storage and clutter were cleared out to maximize the space and to get optimum use of every corner. Custom-made Corian counter with walnut detailed cabinet were built. Corian counter continues as a shelf into the shower, divided by clear glass wall. Underneath the counter in L-shape is a custom-made cabinet. Formica cabinet, hides pull out drawers behind touch latch doors. Glass tile reflects on the walls and b&w pebbles break the floor to softness.
